The other Italian plaque I just finished is a beautiful doortopper which you can hang in your kitchen or dining area. This plaque reads (in Italian) Everyone to the Table to Eat! I carved in lots of fruits and vegetables and made it just the righ size to fix above most doorways.

I think they would make good gifts for any of your friends that love wine! Like I do! One is a Welcome Friends plaque with two wine glasses toasting. I carved it in a circle so you can hang it by your font door. A nice toast to you friends!!

The other Wine plaque I finished is a doortopper. I think it will look good sitting above any doorway in your house–but especially nice if you have a wine cellar! I carved wine bottles, fruit–pineapple and apple, a fat loaf of bread and a wedge of cheese. I used a traditional shape–with the pineapple top just reaching out over the edge. We handpaint each one–and then apply a stain which shows all the detail of my carving. I hope you like this piece! Al

I just finished three new chalkboards and menuboards that we are very excited about. I had a lot of fun doing them! The Fresh Bagel board was inspired by one of our customers who owns a Bagel Cafe. We added his name to the bottom of the bagel artwork and it created a very unqiue chalkboard for his Cafe. It catches everyone's attention!

Our new Cupcake Chalk Board can also be personalized with a name or restaurant name. We think this will attract customers to your bakery or cafe with our unique design and the dimensional aspect of the artwork. The cupcake looks real!

We just finished the chalkboard for a hair salon or barbershop. I carved very life like scissors and comb--we think this distinctive artwork will make your business stand out!

Everyone loves the look of stunning wood in his or her home, but when to comes down to choosing the right kind of wood for your space, a lot more thought goes into it than you would imagine. Each wood sets a different sort of tone or look for your home, so it’s important to think about the atmosphere you want to create in your space before you start buying furniture or accent pieces.

Essentially, there are several types of woods you could go with. The first kind of wood is lighter wood, which creates a very light, feminine, modern, and clean feeling in any space. Another kind of wood is a medium wood, such as pine, which often has a very warm tone that makes a space feel welcoming and homey. Then there’s darker woods, like mahogany, which add drama, as well as richer look and feel to any space.

When picking woods, be sure to take a look at the warm or cool tones that are featured in the wood to see how it will work with the rest of your décor. Or, if you can’t decide on the right kind of wood, you can always feel free to go with painted woods in a shade that works will with your décor.

After you’ve completed your woodcarving, do you ever feel that the piece seems to be missing something? Decorating your woodcarving with paint can change its entire look and is rather easy to do.

First, sand the carving with sand paper so to remove any rough edges. Be sure to wipe the carving down with a towel to remove any loose pieces. Then, using a medium brush, paint the base colors of the carving and remember to wash the brush out between colors. Add paint to the smaller portions of the carving to add detail and assure that the paint is reaching any time crevices of the carving. Then, consider outlining and creating shadows with black paint and highlight using white paint. Let the carving dry thoroughly and check the area for any needed touch ups. Once you are satisfied with the painting of the carving, be sure to spray the carving with a sealant to keep the paint from flaking away and the wood from warping.

If you haven’t considering painting your woodcarvings, perhaps you will consider doing so on your next creation. Adding a few brush of color to your carving can be just what your carving needs and you’ll enjoy seeing the piece come alive with color!
